Welcome to Miru. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the Miru mobile application and website.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Miru, we may collect the following information:

• Account information, including your email address, username, display name, and authentication information.
• Profile information, including any profile photo you choose to upload.
• Movie and TV activity, including watched titles, rankings, watchlists, and favorites.
• Social activity, including follows, likes, comments, and other interactions.
• Technical information necessary to operate the app, maintain security, and troubleshoot problems.

2. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Create and maintain your account.
• Save and display your rankings and watchlists.
• Enable social features and interactions.
• Provide support and respond to inquiries.
• Maintain app functionality and security.
• Improve the user experience.

3. Public Profiles and Social Activity

Miru is a social platform for discovering, tracking, and ranking movies and television. Your profile, rankings, watchlists, and certain activity may be visible to other Miru users, even if they do not follow you.

Following another user does not currently require their approval. Please consider this when sharing information through Miru.

4. Authentication and Service Providers

Miru uses Supabase to support account authentication and database services. Depending on your chosen sign-in method, authentication may also involve Apple or Google.

These providers may process information necessary to deliver their respective services, subject to their own privacy practices.

5. Push Notifications

Miru may request permission to send push notifications. If you enable notifications, we may collect and store a device push token to deliver notifications related to your account or activity.

You can manage notification permissions through your device settings.

6. Sharing of Information

Information you make available through Miru's social features may be viewed by other users.

We may also share information with service providers as necessary to operate the app, comply with legal obligations, or protect the security of our services.

7. Data Security and Retention

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information.

We retain information as needed to provide Miru's services and for legitimate operational, security, or legal purposes. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

8. Account Deletion

You can request deletion of your Miru account through the account deletion option in the app's Settings.

Account deletion initiates removal of your account and associated information. Certain information may be retained where required or permitted by applicable law.

9. Children's Privacy

Miru is not directed to children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take steps to address it.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Miru evolves. Changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
